Last Chance Bike Shop

"Knoff started the bike program nearly 35 years ago in Clay County, where volunteers collect and rebuild bikes year-round, picking them up from yard sales or donations."

Our two-time past President, Richard Knoff, founded the Last Chance Bike Shop, a program supported by our Rotary club through volunteerism and donations. Located in an old fire station in Green Cove Springs, this workshop operates with the same spirit as Santa’s workshop, providing bikes to local kids in need.

"We call it the 'Last Chance Bike Shop,'" said Knoff, explaining the mission of the program. Hal Beck, a retired Navy volunteer, added, "It's all about giving," sharing how he spends every Tuesday of the year donating his time.

During the holiday season, the team refurbishes bikes for children, with over 700 kids receiving bikes at the annual J.P. Hall Children’s Christmas Party. "For some of these kids, they’ve never ridden a bicycle or had the opportunity to," said Knoff. "It’s just such a joy to see the little kids," Beck added. The program is a true labor of love, giving bikes a second chance and making unforgettable memories for local kids.
