In 2022, the Rotary Club of Fleming Island embarked on a mission to provide optometry services free of charge to Bahamian residents in collaboration with the nonprofit the Rosani Lens Project. Over the course of three years, thousands of Bahamians have been assisted with a free pair of eyeglasses and/or a preliminary eye exam. Word of this service project spread throughout the Clay County, Florida community, and other local Rotary clubs, including ours, decided to join in.
In 2022, the Rotary Club of Fleming Island presented a donation of over $1700 to the Rosani Lens Project.
In early 2025, the Rotary of Club of Fleming Island and the Rotary Club of Orange Park Sunrise collaborated to host a breakfast fundraiser with local Clay County leaders: Sheriff Michelle Cook and Clay County Manager Howard Wanamaker. All ticket proceeds benefitted the Rosani Lens Project.
